Francis Henneberry 1823- Francis was born or baptized in Galbally, Ireland on April 9, 1825. The Godparents were Darby O'Donnell and Mary Henebry. He came to America aboard the ship Argyle with his parents, David Henneberry and Jane Cushing Henneberry. In the 1850 census, a Francis Hennebrain-age 24 was living with the family of John Lynch in Ottawa, LaSalle County, IL. The 1875 Moultrie County Platt Records show Francis owning 160 acres in Dora Township. His brothers, James and Patrick had also moved to Moultrie County along with their sister, Margaret Henneberry Foley. From the 1880 Moultrie County census: Francis Henebery age 57, wife Maggie age 28, children: Jane age 4 and a farm laborer-James Cushing-a relative of Jane Cushing, the mother of Francis. From the 1900 census, Frank and Margaret are living in Washington Township, Webster County, Iowa. Frank may have moved to Iowa with his brother Patrick. Michael State : Iowa Thomas Henneberry - 1828 Arrived aboard the ship Argyle. In the 1850 Grundy County, IL census, he was living with his mother. Thomas married Mary King in 1854. He became a citizen on June 18, 1855 in Grundy County. The sponsors were James Berry and Daniel Hayes. On the same June 19, 1855, Thomas was a sponsor for Patrick Hayes who became a citizen on the same day. 1860 Will County Census:
Wilmington Township pages 102-103: Thomas married Catherine O'Leary on June 20, 1867 in Will County, license # 2945. The 1880 census shows a Thomas Henneberry living in Wilmington Township, Will County, IL. Thomas is age 50 and his wife Catherine is age 50. In 1881, Thomas raised chickens in Wilmington, IL. There were three children from his marriage to Mary King, and one child from his marriage to Catherine O'Leary (James T. Henneberry, Dec. 27, 1876-Jan 24, 1877). Thomas was well known as a violinist.
Obituary from Joliet, IL newspaper of December 7, 1906: Mrs. Thomas Hennebry of this city, Thursday last received word that her husband, Thomas Hennebry, who had been in a sanitarium in Wisconsin for the past few months, was dead. We are without particulars. Thomas Hennebry, son of James & Ellen Kenny Hennebry History of Will County Illinois, Wm. LeBaron, Jr. & Co. Chicago, 1878. Reed Township, page 755. "Thomas Hennebry, boots and shoes, Braidwood; was born in Ireland in 1845; his parents are James and Ellen (Kenny) Hennebry of Ireland; his father was a farmer; emigrated to America in April, 1848 and settled in DuPage County; here Mr. Hennebry remained on the farm until the breaking-out of the late war; he enlisted Aug. 15, 1862 as private in Co. C, 90th I.V.I. for three years; participated in some of the fard fought battles duri8ng the was under Gens. Grant and Sherman - Vicksburg, Mission Ridge, Kenesaw Mountain, Atlanta, Sherman's march to the sea, through the swamps of the Carolinas to Washington, on the grand review; was mustered out as Corporal June 5, 1865; returned to the farm in DuPage Co; in 1869 went to Wilmington, Will Co. in the mercantile business with Richard Baskerville-"Baskerville & Hennebry"; then, in 1872, came to Braidwood entered the boot and shoe business with C. O'Donnell - "Hennebry & O'Donnell; then with John Handlon - Hennebry & Handlon"; today he owns one of the best boot and shoe stores in Braidwood. Was elected Supervisor of Reed Tp. in 1873; this office he filled with honor and satisfaction. Is a Democrat in politics; Catholic in religion. Married in 1875 to Miss Kate Keane, whose parents are amount the first settlers of Reed Tp.; one child." 1920 census, Will County, Joliet, Western Ave., ED169, line 82: Business Directory for Will County: Thomas Hennebry, Boots and Shoes. Note: This could be the son of David S. Hennebry.
